USAIN BOLT has been teasing a change of sports for a number of years and his dream has now come through.
The 31-year-old has hinted about having trials at clubs including Dortmund, but which team did the world record sprinter sign for.
Who is Usain Bolt?
BOLT is one of the most famous athletes in the world – even though he announced his retirement from athletics last year.
The 31-year-old sprinter won eight Olympic gold medals, is an eleven-time World Champion and broke both the 100m and 200m sprint world records multiple times.
Following the 2017 World Championships, he retired after he collapsed in the 4 x 100m relay with a hamstring injury.
He refused the wheelchair offered to him and crossed the finish line with the assistance of his teammates.
How did he make the announcement?
ON Sunday, February 25 Bolt took to Twitter to tell his followers that he had signed for a football team but chose to leave the crucial detail out – who it was.
According to his agent in January, Bolt had as many as 12 teams chasing him to offer him a trial.
Bolt made the announcement on Tuesday, February 27 at 8am.
Which club has he signed for?
BOLT announced that he will be playing in the Soccer Aid game for Unicef.
The game will be be held TONIGHT – Sunday, June 10 at Old Trafford.
And as a warm-up for the big day he is in action for a full-time club as he represented Norwegian side Stromsgodset in a 1-0 loss to the Norway U23 team.
Wearing the 9.58 shirt – a reference to his 100m world record – Bolt came off the bench and missed his team’s best chance to draw level.
