Sheriff Brian Schenck has issued a travel advisory for Cayuga County due to weather conditions.
The advisory was issued due recent weather warnings — Auburn and southern Cayuga County are under a winter storm warning — and current road conditions. Roads are snow-covered and slick, the sheriff’s office said, and the snow is heavy at times. There is blowing snow in some areas of the county.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution. The sheriff’s office advises that if you do travel, be sure to have warm clothing if you become stranded. Check in with elderly or vulnerable family members, friends and neighbors to ensure they are prepared for the storm.
